Pressure Cookers

-

Capacities 1.5L to 5L │ Automatic Keep-Warm │ 2-Year Warranty

Wonderchef pressure cookers are built for the way Indian families actually cook. Biryani, dal, rice, soups, curries, even cakes and momos - one cooker handles it. The range covers aluminium, hard-anodised, stainless steel and tri-ply, in capacities from 2L to 8L, with ISI/BIS-certified safety features and induction-friendly bases on most models. Pick the one that fits how much you cook and on what stovetop.

What Makes the Wonderchef Cooker the Best Choice

  • Triple Safety System: Pressure release valve, controlled gasket release and pressure-locked safety lid work together so steam vents safely and the lid stays locked under pressure. Inner-lid models give an audible click when the lid is correctly aligned.
  • Built for Real Heat: Base construction is matched to the material — 3.25mm heavy encapsulated bottom on Ultima aluminium models, 6mm thick base on Nigella stainless steel, and tri-ply sandwich base on Nigella Tri-Ply and Venice. Even heat, no hot spots.
  • Kitchen All-Rounder: Sauté, steam, fry, boil and pressure cook. Works for biryani, pulao, curries, dal, soups, steamed rice, momos and cake.
  • Induction + Gas Friendly: Every cooker in this range works on gas and induction. Tri-ply and SS models also work on ceramic and electric stovetops.
  • ISI / BIS Certified: Across the range, cookers carry ISI/BIS approval and meet ISO 9001 standards on Taurus and Nigella SS lines.
  • 5-Year Warranty on Core Range: Ultima, Taurus, Nigella SS, Nigella Tri-Ply and Venice carry a 5-year warranty. Regalia carries a 2-year warranty. Service available across 20,000+ pin codes.
  • Range of Materials and Sizes: Choose from aluminium, hard-anodised, stainless steel or tri-ply, in 2L, 3L, 5L and 8L capacities, with inner-lid or outer-lid options.

How to Clean and Maintain Your Cooker

  • Let the cooker cool fully and release all pressure before you open the lid. Never force it.
  • Wash the body, lid and gasket in warm soapy water after each use. For stainless steel and tri-ply, a soft sponge is enough.
  • Run a thin skewer or toothpick through the pressure vent every few uses to make sure nothing's blocking it.
  • Check the gasket every couple of months. If it's brittle, cracked or no longer flexible, replace it.
  • Dry every part before storing — moisture under the gasket leaves a smell.
  • Skip steel wool and harsh cleaners on aluminium and anodised cookers. They scratch the finish.

Troubleshooting Common Cooker Issues

  • Pressure isn't building: Check the lid is locked properly — inner-lid cookers will give an audible click. Check the gasket is seated correctly and isn't brittle or torn. If it's old, replace it before troubleshooting further.
  • Steam leaking from the sides: Usually a gasket issue. Wipe the gasket and the rim of the cooker body, reseat the gasket, and make sure no dal or rice is stuck on the lip. If steam still leaks, the gasket likely needs replacing.
  • Food burning at the base: You probably didn't add enough water. Pressure cooking needs liquid to generate steam. Once the first whistle blows, lower the flame to medium so the base doesn't overheat.

Safety Guide for Everyday Use

  • Lock the lid properly before you put the cooker on the flame. Inner-lid cookers click when they're aligned.
  • Don't fill past the max line - the cooker needs headspace to build steam safely. For dal and rice that froths, fill to two-thirds.
  • Check that the vent and safety valve are clear before every use. A blocked vent is the most common cause of accidents.
  • Once the first whistle blows, bring the flame down to medium. Don't keep it on high.
  • Let pressure release naturally before opening. If you're in a hurry, run cold water over the lid - never pry it open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What safety features does a Wonderchef pressure cooker have?

A three-way safety system — pressure release valve, controlled gasket release, and a pressure-locked safety lid. Inner-lid models give an audible click when the lid is correctly aligned. Most cookers in the range are ISI certified, with Taurus and Nigella also carrying ISO 9001 certification.

Can I cook more than just rice and dal in it?

A pressure cooker handles biryani, pulao, curries, soups, steamed rice, momos, even cake. The same body can be used for sautéing, steaming, frying and boiling before you put the lid on for pressure cooking.

Will it work on my induction cooktop?

Yes, every cooker in this collection is induction-friendly. Tri-ply and stainless steel models also work on ceramic and electric stovetops alongside gas.

Is pressure cooking really more efficient?

Pressure cooking traps steam, so food cooks at higher temperatures in less time. That cuts gas and electricity use compared with open-pot cooking, and locks in flavour and nutrients.

What's the base thickness?

It depends on the model. Ultima aluminium cookers have a 3.25mm heavy encapsulated bottom. Nigella stainless steel inner-lid cookers have a 6mm thick base. Nigella Tri-Ply and Venice use a tri-ply sandwich construction.

How do I clean it?

Warm soapy water and a soft sponge after every use. Run something thin through the vent every few uses to keep it clear. For aluminium and anodised cookers, skip steel wool — it scratches the finish.

How long does the cooker last?

With normal use, around 3 years before the body starts showing wear. The gasket needs replacing earlier, usually every 6–12 months. Warranty is 5 years on Ultima, Taurus, Nigella SS, Nigella Tri-Ply and Venice; Regalia carries a 2-year warranty.

What's the warranty?

5-year warranty on most of the range with on-site service across 20,000+ pin codes in India. Regalia is the exception at 2 years. T&C apply.
