A Year On, A Bigger Stage

Last year's Kitchen Queen brought together some of Mumbai's most talented home cooks. The dishes surprised us. The stories stayed with us.

This year, we're going further. The Great Culinary Cook Off in partnership with Freshpik brings the contest to a bigger stage, with a sharper brief, a celebrated judge, and a city full of home chefs ready to be discovered.

The kitchen is yours. The stage is set.

Cool Plates, Ancient Grains

Summer in India calls for food that nourishes without weighing you down. And no ingredient does this better than millets — our ancient grains, rediscovered for the modern Indian kitchen.

Your challenge: a healthy summer dish, with a millet of your choice as the hero.

Jowar. Bajra. Ragi. Foxtail. Little millet. Pick your grain, pick your dish, and bring something to the table that feels like summer on a plate.

One winner and four runners-up walk away with prizes - and a story to tell.
Anyone who loves to cook at home based in or around Mumbai. No professional chefs, no commercial kitchen operators. We want the people who cook for love, not livelihood.
Participants must be 18 or above.
No, participation is free.
Healthy summer food, with a millet of your choice as the hero ingredient - jowar, bajra, ragi, foxtail, little millet, or any variety you love working with. The full brief, including portion size and plating guidelines, will be shared once you're shortlisted.
Yes - that's the format. Cook your dish at home, the way you cook best, and bring it to the venue. Final plating, garnishing, and warming can be done at Freshpik Powai.
We recommend bringing your dish in airtight containers and, where needed, an insulated bag or hot case. The venue will have basic counter space for finishing touches - but the dish should travel well. Plan accordingly when choosing what to cook.
Chef will be present through the tasting and judging segments, and will engage with contestants and the audience during the event.
Your dish, your ingredient list (so Chef and the team know what's on the plate), basic plating tools you may need, and a printed or digital copy of your registration confirmation along with a Photo ID.
Yes. We'll have photographers, videographers, and invited media - including food writers, lifestyle journalists, and influencers. By participating, you're agreeing to let Wonderchef and Freshpik use this content across our channels. Selected dishes and contestants may be featured on Wonderchef and Freshpik social media after the event.
The winner receives a Wonderchef product hamper, a winner's certificate, and feature coverage across Wonderchef and Freshpik platforms. Each of the four runners-up receives a Wonderchef hamper and a certificate.
Dishes are judged on three criteria: taste, originality, and presentation. Final judging is led by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor along with Wonderchef's co-founder and CEO Mr. Ravi Saxena. The judges' decision is final.
Please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the spot to someone on the waitlist. We can't reschedule the event for individual participants.
You'll hear from us by email, WhatsApp (or phone call). We recommend keeping an eye on your inbox, including the spam folder.
Your dish needs to use a millet as the hero ingredient and align with the "healthy summer food" theme. Beyond that, you're free to cook vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free - whatever reflects your kitchen. We do not recommend cooking non-vegetarian dishes for this event.
